The Boogie Punkers

The Spaniards Boogie Punkers became known as "a fast rock n' roll, psychotic swing, futuristic rockabilly, surf punk band. The 50's soundtrack mutated for the 21st century". They avoided typical examples, not limiting themselves in one particuler genre. Their first self-titled album was released in 2003, and their second one (suitably entitled The Brooklyn Sessions) was recorded live in Broolkyn, NY. The Boogie Punkers disbanded in 2007, after which their members got into other musical projects.

Ebba Grön

Ebba Grön was a Swedish punk/rock band. The band was formed in 1977 by Joakim Thåström (Pimme), Gunnar Ljungstedt (Gurra) and Lennart Eriksson (Fjodor), all from Rågsved, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden. Their debut album, We’re Only in it for the Drugs, was released in 1978. After their second album Kärlek & Uppror (“Love & Revolt”) in 1981, Anders Sjöholm (Stry Terrarie) joined them. Their third album, released in 1982 and simply named Ebba Grön, also became their last; the band never recovered after Fjodor went to jail for four months for refusing to do military service, and the group disbanded in 1983. The three remaining members went on to form the group Rymdimperiet, which soon became the influential rock band Imperiet.
“Ebba Grön” was a code name the Swedish police used in an operation against a terrorist group (a part of the German Red Army Faction), planning to kidnap the Minister for Immigration, Anna-Greta Leijon, in 1976.
Their probably most famous and most played song is "Staten och Kapitalet" (“The State and the Capital”, roughly translated) and is a song purely and very directly critical towards the Swedish politics and politicians of the time, or maybe unjust politicians in general. The song is actually a cover of Blå Tåget’s "Den ena handen vet vad den andra gör" (“The one hand knows what the other hand is doing”).

The Ghastly Ones

The Ghastly Ones are a surf rock n' roll band from Van Nuys, California. They keep it mainly instrumental (as used in the genre) and their music carries a distinct horror b-movie atmosphere, while the band members dress in Halloween costumes. The Ghastly Ones were formed in 1996 and have released 4 full-length albums, apart from a couple of singles and EPs.

Total Control

Featuring some of the strongest germs in Melbourne, Australia’s garage punk scene, Total Control formed in 2008 when UV Race drummer Dan Steward and Eddy Current Suppression Ring guitarist/producer Mikey Young came together over a love of wiry '80s punk heros like Devo, Gary Numan, and the Screamers. Both initially busy with their main bands, they experimented with Total Control whenever time allowed, eventually bashing out a punky self-titled debut 7" in 2008. The band's releases came mostly in the form of quickly sold-out 7" singles for the next few years, including Paranoid Video and the cold-wavey Pyre Island. Each concurrent single saw the duo (sometimes aided by external players on these recordings) shifting styles dramatically. Fans and press alike noted Total Control growing more minimal with each gear shift, adopting more electronic elements as their catalog grew. Late 2011 saw the release of Henge Beat, their first full-length endeavor, and an amalgamation of the various cold styles that wove through their previous singles. Steward and Young enlisted the help of accomplices from the Melbourne punk underbelly for both the recording of Henge Beat as well as live shows. At this point the band enjoyed a successful tour of the States opening for San Francisco garage favorites Thee Oh Sees.
