Zeke part I

West Coast thrashers Zeke establish a nasty disposition while cutting teeth on their own brash hardcore punk. A foursome since 1993, Zeke has released a handful of EPs and full-lengths through Wrecking Ball Records and IFA Records, but inked a deal with Epitaph in 1998. Kicked in the Teeth came up from the vaults to be issued that same year, with Dirty Sanchez following in early 2000. They have also toured with the likes of ALL, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Supersuckers, and Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell.

Iron Monkey

Iron Monkey formed in Nottingham, England, in 1994, intending "to irritate as many people as possible," according to bass player Doug Dalziel. That may have worked for a while, but eventually the band had to deal with the fact that quite a few people actually liked what they were doing. After releasing a self-titled six-song mini-album in 1996, the band gained a fair amount of appreciation in the underground. Rumors abounded that Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo was listening to the self-titled release when he overdosed on heroin in 1996. As a result of the buzz and infamy around the recording, live shows, and associated rumors, Iron Monkey was picked up by the metal giant Earache in 1997 and released the epic and disturbing Our Problem in 1998. The big label exposure transformed Iron Monkey from a local force into one of two powerhouse sludge bands in the late '90s, the other being New Orleans' Eyehategod. After recording Our Problem, Iron Monkey remained fiercely independent, recording the last effort by the group, the 10" record and CD split with Japan's Church of Misery, We've Learned Nothing, for Melvins cover artist and stoner rock label owner Frank Kozik's Man's Ruin records.

Deep Reduction

In 1999, the Harrisburg, PA-based band the Stump Wizards asked Deniz Tek, former leader of the pioneering Australian punk band Radio Birdman, to produce their third album, to be entitled Contains Lead. Tek accepted their invitation, and while tensions within the Stump Wizards prevented their own album from coming out, guitarist Jack Chiara and drummer Clyde McGeary hit it off with Tek, and during downtime from the sessions the three began working up songs of their own which blended elements of punk, hard rock, and power pop. The sessions eventually yielded a separate album, which Tek, Chiara, and McGeary decided to release under the group name Deep Reduction. Following an advance single, the Deep Reduction album was released in early 2000, and the group reassembled for a short tour of Europe in the spring of that year. In 2001, the group returned to the studio to cut a second album, simply entitled 2; this time out, they were joined by another Radio Birdman alumnus, Rob Younger, who was invited by Tek to join the group as a vocalist.

The Sound Explosion

The Sound Explosion is a legendary Greek garage rock band, which was formed in May 1991. They released several 7" singles and gave headline shows as well as supporting great bands, like Fuzztones, Dead Moon, Overcoat etc. In 1997 they took a long break until 2004, when they re-emerged and started to give shows again. Their current status is unknown.
